                        I lay awake at night

                        listening to the lullaby of the crickets

                        soft underwater whispers

                        mixing into the night 

                        this is the only time

                        I get to not think

                        worries blend into the shadows

                        I wrap myself in th e trembling blankets

                        of forgetfulness

                        the space between dreams

                        everything seems right

                        in those soft dark moments

                        alone with crickets

                        the night is deafening

                        when the silence is listening
