time

I met you
In the outside
Cold
Patchy
Sunlight

Your dog
In the sweaters
Your wife makes
Out of of old shirt sleeves
Who always
Is a smiling
And copper dog
When she see’s me
Soft and velvet
In my arms
You say what age you’re going on,
I say mine
You called me young still
“New years is like water
slipping down a drain as I get older”
Your blue eyes
Were distant
Forlorn
Before turning back
To cheerful

That’s a perfect way to describe time,
water slipping and spilling,
getting further away
From us
Were all
Just trying to
Make it
a future undecided,
a set of thing’s you set up
to fall like blocks

To clear days ahead
Raise your glass
There is only this,
the past you carry
In your memory
And the present
undecipherable
Unknowable future

Which might
Already be inside of you
Leaking out
In an unreadable script
That you could never
in a million years
Guess

I think time
Is the color of
Pale sand
Light as snow
Counting our footsteps
In time
With the sturdy
And creaking
ticking clocks
Glass echos
Of yourself

Rust and Stardust

“For poems are like rainbows; they escape you quickly.”
—Langston Hughes, The Big Sea

It was a night
when the moon
looked sad
naked
a perfect
faded orb
nestled
in the faded
charcoal
night

the rainbow
blanket
of clouds
scattered
wispy webs
some beauty
lulling
quietly
in the disarray
of everyday
to make you smile

forgetting
your
sadness
for a moment
showing you
what you’ve
missed
longing
for a
phantom
feeling

wishing
I had more time
with you
and the rest
is rust
and stardust

I remember
you telling me
you don’t have to live
forever
you just have to live

the stony house
you wanted
with the lonely
torrets

where
the street
had no name
except for bright

you were
always
looking
for the light
inside

we were
never mistaken
in the silence

Brighter Blooms

Everything
Is too noisy
You’re
All thunder
No rain

I’m just
Looking for
Brighter blooms
Sitting alone
At this cafe
sometimes
the best place
to be alone is in a crowd
I won't go far away
I won't go where you won't stay
It seems like
I’ve loved you
For so long
Or is it too sides
of the same coin?
Balance
is not something
you find,
it’s something
you create

You are
White Christmas
A silent echo
Still
Always moving

A mystery
That keeps
Pulling me
in
It’s not like you
To hide
From the

light

~Alive~

"When I let go of what I am I become what I might be"  -Lao Tzu

Clouds
Sugar and pepper
The sky

I'll be there for you
resilient and unbending
a footstep away

You’re never
Gonna go
If you don’t
Go now

Skies Lift your head to the sky
To touch the gravity between your fingers
Makes distance
Feel so near

Ages of light leaves
Breathless blooms
Makes you feel
Drunk
The trees
Are crowned
With leaves
In the quiet
Shivers
Of the breeze
Make it
Easier
To forget
The hold of you

Beautiful night
The common
Darkness
The trees
A silent echo
Still
A mystery
That keeps
Pulling
me
in
until I feel alive
