thats the thing about pain
it demands to be felt
I want to finally feel
the moment
finally open my eyes
see the rise and fall
of all the days

so taste the stars
with me
feel the velvety brightness
honey-thick
on your tongue
close your eyes
and try not not to care
for as long as you can

if you want the rainbow
you have to deal with the rain
the good and bad times
the spread out sun on a pavement
and a cup of tea
is all I need this time
the stars
are our ugly and beautiful
memories

reaching what you reach for

is hard

but trying is not that hard

 somehow we'll get there

even if we take the long way around

at night

you took me outside

opened the door with a grin

a rare light in your eyes

you pointed a leathery finger up

until I saw it 

my first shooting star

it slowly climbed the arc of the night sky

shaking and white

leaving echo's of memories behind

cold slow swirls 

in the still dark

thats my childhood

thats what it comes down to

a shooting star

brief in the night sky

I'll keep looking up

so I can see your star

    I saw a shooting star tonight
    and I thought of you
