~Cafe~

Cafe

thing’s don’t seem as bleak
with a cup of coffee
the paper cup
just slightly bent
look inside
charcoal tears
curl up and stain
the air

it’s where my demons hide
and fade out
just for a minute
forget about the mess you made
don’t get too close
it’s woven into my soul
I need to show you the truth
look into my eye
searching for sweet  surrender
going through the motions
the lazy steam
violet silhouettes
haunting the cup
she holds in her hands
light blue sunglasses
lay beside the white sugar
on the brown table
all my words
burn so bright
day’s
too slow and fast

~Wing's~

~Wings~

that night
I found
your discarded and forgotten
wings

golden and green
the hopeful arch
of what was
now crumpled
and drunken
glitter
that now glitters
for no one

a tear
in the netting
faded
fake jewels
tarnished and faded
thrown
to the sidewalk
with hushed whispers

hidden
by purple shadows
a crumpled mosaic
in the brilliant cold
you can almost hear
the promise
of musical laughter
fading
and weaving
as the night darkens

~Paper Cup~

the paper coffee cup spills
charcoal tears curl and stain
the noisy background of people

~Magnolia~

the white magnolia
opens into a pink shell
in her trembling hand

thing's don't seem so bleak
after a cup of tea
violet lilac rain falls

~Wild Horses~

I love this song
even though you didn't
it comforted me
a little
while you were away
just a little
you’re too honest for me
to control

I tell you my favorite line
“you left my heart
vacant as a empty lot
for any spirits to haunt”
sad
with just a tinge
of hope
that’s how I felt
you left me
in this chaos
I was spinning

I missed you
the doors open
and I can’t get it
open again

you have a gypsy heart
you turned around and didn't look back
you left me
just out of reach
but I’ll remember
your saltwater kisses
and the train leaving
and your smile
that finally lit your face

~Ruby Tuesday~

~Ruby Tuesday~
Sarah Mahina Calvello
“Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
who could hang a name on you?
when you change with every new day
still I’m gonna miss you.”

looking at
the jagged
curved curls
of the roses on my coffee table
i think of you
and our Ruby Tuesday
a burning memory
that almost hurts

on that day
the sun was hanging quietly
and we were in the brick house
we were the first ones to dance
you held your hand out
grinning
one of those pure happy moments
when your blue eyes lit the room
like rolling sea water

you pulled me up
and we danced in a confused flurry
this was our Ruby Tuesday
shades of red wine
liquid shadows shake
and the laughing whispers
of people pretending to love
